What do you feel is the real motivation behind the UN intervention in Libya?

The U.N. has decided to pick a side in the civil war in Libya on the hope that the outcome will be beneficial for those that participate. France and Britain may feel some colonial "guilt" and the U.S. is probably doing it for Lockerbee retribution.
