My boyfriend used to be attentive, affectionate, and loving...what has changed?

The first two months were bliss. It has now been ten months and he has completely changed. He used to text me and tell me he loved me. Now it is like pulling teeth for him to mumble it. I spoke to his ex wife and she said he has attachment issues and that he was the same way with her. He is nice and kind to everyone else but me(and used to be the same for his ex) Please advise! I do care for him and do love him however it gets tiring when you are ignored most of the time.
