1st offense of aggrated ault w/ a weapon but no evidence, should the person get jail time?

There was an altercation where the female brung a weapon into a fight and was the one who wound up gettin hurt. Now the female is pressing charges of aggravated ault with a deadly weapon on the other person. There was no weapon found but the prosecutor is trying to give the other person jail time based on the word of the female. If the other person takes it to trial they will get 5-10 yrs. But the state is offering 1 year with a min of 3-4 months. With no solid evidence and just the word of the female should the other person really have to do jail time?
