Why is Frankenstein a clic?

During Mary Shelley's time was the Romantic Era where there was a pion for human emotion, the belief that all humans were innately good, a strong sense of human individuality, etc. But her book, however, was kind of the opposite of those beliefs. Frankenstein was one of the first gothic novels during the time which contained the use of intense emotion, evocation of fear, and giving nature the power to destroy.
