Lost Prescription, doctor gives me hard time?

OK, on 11/11/2010 I went to doctor for my broken back. Hurts like hell and I got 2 prescriptions, 1 dated 11/11/2010 and one 12/11/2010 for my pain pills. I went to the pharmacy and filled the first one and I thought I put the second prescription dated 12/11/10 in my pocket. When I get home I empty my pockets and don't pay attention to whats coming out of my pockets but I stick everything on table. Well now that its time to get my other prescription filled I look on table to get the other script and its not there. I look everywhere; car, work, pockets, I call the pharmacy - nothing - and the tiny piece of paper is knowhere. So naturally I call the doctor. They are rude to me, I explain whats going on and their like we can't do anything until you get a police report. I was like what? Why? They said its a cl 2 narcotic and you need to fill a police report and not until then can we write you a new prescription and plus we need to see you. So I said well can I make appt now and they said no, not until police report is in our hands. So I call the police and fill out a report and they said 3-5 business days I can pick it up. So it could take 2 weeks before I can see the doctor and I'll be out of pain meds and I might have to take off work cause of it. I know I'm a dumb for losing the script but this just doesn't seem right. You would think that all they need to do is void the prescription and write a new one. I mean knowone can fill it anyway till the 11th, But anyway thats the way it goes I guess. Any input or has this happened to anyone before.
